Naturya Organic Cacao Powder is fairly traded from Machu Picchu in Peru, the cacao pods are hand cut from the trees, cut open and the seeds are scooped out. They are left to ferment for one week and are then sun-dried for another week. They are then cleaned, sorted and shelled to leave just the cacao nibs. The nibs are ground into a paste which is then pressed to remove cacao butter leaving cacao powder.
